Mission Around Austin: ABBA
Austin is filled with unique churches, missionaries and organizations. In Mission Around Austin, we'll feature short interviews that will introduce you to others working for the good of the city. The following is from Dania Heffington at ABBA.
What is the name of your organization, and what inspired it? Austin Bridge Builders Alliance. Jeremiah 29:7 is a the underlying belief and inspiration for our organization. We believe that everyone who lives in the region is not here by accident but for bigger purpose. We have the obligation, then, to intentionally and circumspectly seek (actively pursue) the shalom of the city. Our destiny as people of faith is tied to the destiny of the place where we live. We absolutely believe that when the Church unites behind a clear vision and a compelling mission, they can be the largest resource for change for good in the city – but really – anywhere that is taking place.
What is the focus of your organization? A united Body of Christ, throughout Greater Austin, serving the needs of our city, and it people, such that the city is experiencing the transformational love of God – culturally, socially, and spiritually. But the ultimate goal is that every man, woman and child may SEE and HEAR the compelling message of Christ's love for them. We seek to pursue this vision and mission through demonstrating servant leadership with humility, being generous and acting with integrity, in excellence, never losing hope. We build alliances, connect people to serve, facilitate transformational events and communicate what God's doing in the region.
